Living with chronic illness can be incredibly challenging, a reality often difficult to grasp unless experienced firsthand.

I’m here to assure you that in your struggles, you’re not alone. I vividly recall the sense of isolation from the healthcare system, yearning for validation and comprehension, grappling with feelings of hopelessness, solitude, anger, frustration, anxiety, and depression. My own journey with chronic illness began at the age of 14, marked by countless consultations, hospital visits, and specialist appointments in pursuit of answers. Eventually, after years of searching, this journey culminated in various diagnoses, each adding its layer to the complexity of my experience.

My Chronic Illness ‘Resume’ includes:

  • Ehlers Danlos Syndrome
  • ME/Chronic Fatigue Syndrome
  • Depression
  • Arthritis
  • Fibromyalgia
  • Endometriosis
  • Infertility
  • Postal Tachycardia Syndrome
  • Chronic Inflammation
  • Chronic Migraines

and many more….

I’m sharing this not seeking pity but aiming to inspire and instill a sense of hope within you. Through each new diagnosis, I’ve discovered something new about both myself and the world around me. Chronic illness has permeated every facet of my existence, influencing my relationships and shaping my identity. However, amidst its challenges, it has also bestowed upon me invaluable gifts: strength, resilience, grace, compassion, empathy, and a profound sense of self-love. Reflecting on my journey from where I once stood to where I am now, I’m overwhelmed with love and gratitude for my life. I’m here to convey that there is indeed a fulfilling and joyful life awaiting those diagnosed with chronic illness.

Allow me to serve as a mirror, reflecting back to you all your hopes and desires. Trauma and adverse childhood experiences stand as one of the most significant unaddressed public health concerns due to the devastation they leave behind. Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) contribute to seven out of ten leading causes of death, irrespective of factors such as race, income, access to healthcare, or education. Over two decades of medical research have evidenced that childhood adversity can alter a child’s trajectory and impact their physiology profoundly. It can initiate chronic inflammation and hormonal changes that endure a lifetime. Furthermore, it can modify DNA reading patterns and cell replication processes, significantly elevating the risk of various chronic diseases, including heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes, and even Alzheimer’s.
