I will support your child to understand and learn how to respond to times of intense emotion and challenging behaviours.
Over time, together we will begin to develop a relationship built on trust.
Children who have had a difficult start to life have often learned that the world is not a safe place and that people in it cannot be trusted to help them to stay safe.
Without safety and security children cannot settle to learn and explore.
Many also do not think that they deserve care and attention, and many feel deeply ashamed much of the time.
These feelings and assumptions about the world underpin all the interactions they have with you and the world around them.
In my practice i use a model called PACE with in based of 5 pricibles (playfulness, acceptance, curiosity, and empathy).
PACE was designed by one of my biggest mentors and teachers, Dr Dan Hughs.
Naturly children are intouch with their imaginations, We will journey through a variey of theraplay and narrivite interventions, using a variety of inspiration.
Through PACE, and as they begin to feel safer, children discover they
can now do better.
Without such interventions, children young people and adults can get stuck in mental health problems often for decades, with the haunting of past trauma blighting their lives. It doesn’t have to be this way.
